In a central Cambridge mid-terraced house, the challenge was adding a garden room without losing too much outdoor space. We designed an L-shaped studio with a large south-facing bifold door to maximise natural light and create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection onto a small deck. We used Slide and Fold aluminium doors and windows, with British larch cladding, decking, and fencing for a durable finish. Inside, the space features underfloor heating and bamboo flooring, along with a well-optimised barn-doored bin and tool store.
"We had our garden cabin built by the Cambridge Garden Office. The work was done efficiently and with great care. We were able to work together over the plans. We chose to use a Passivhaus membrane,
underfloor heating, and an eco choice for insulation. The decisions were supported very thoughtfully, with their own connections to draw upon. I heartily recommend these guys. The cabin is warm, (even sleeping there at sub zero temps), dry (good ventilation) and an excellent well needed extra space for our family."
