Do you need planning permission to build a garden room?
If kept under a certain size and is not to be used as overnight accommodation then there is no planning permission needed.
What size garden room can I have without planning permission?
You are allowed up to 30m2 internal space and an external height of 2.5 meters. It also can't take up more than 50% of your garden space.
Can I rent out my garden room?
We can build you a perfect AirBnB cabin or something to rent out to help boost your income. It would need certain permission and meet building regulations especially if it is being rented out.
Can you sleep in a garden room?
If you wanted to be sleeping in a garden room regularly or have a guest stay over planning permission is needed, but this is something we can guide you through.
What can my garden room be used for?
The beauty of our skills is that we can build any space you need for your specifications. If you can think of it we can build it. Can you live in a garden room?
It is possible to have a garden room built by us that would make a comfortable living space. However, it will have to have planning permission and meet more building regulations due to somebody living in there.
Can I put a toilet in my garden room?
We can organise having the building fully plumbed into the mains, giving you a fully functioning bathroom. If it isn’t possible to access the mains there are many alternatives around this we can explore.
How much does a garden room cost?
Our garden offices are fully bespoke, so it’s difficult to provide an exact price without first understanding your specific requirements. Building a garden room can be complicated, that’s why it always best to have professionals do it for you. It is possible to do yourself if you have some capability. If you felt you didn’t have all the skills but want a part to play in your project we could always incorporate you working along side us having a hand in your garden office.
What if I need planning permission?
If you want your garden room to be over 2.5m or have a larger footprint than permitted then we can assist with applying for permission by providing relevant drawings and making the application with the local authorities.
Can I live and sleep in my garden room?
We can build a fully liveable garden space with a kitchen and bathroom, but because it would be used for residential purposes, planning permission is required and additional building regulations must be met. The same applies if you intend to use the space regularly for sleeping or hosting overnight guests. This is all part of the process we can guide you through from start to finish.
Can I build my own garden room?
Building a garden room can be complex, which is why it’s usually best left to professionals. However, if you have the right skills and experience, it is possible to take on the project yourself.
