DESCRIPTION:
Alison, based in central Cambridge, wanted a natural-feeling studio at the end of her long, narrow garden. We provided drawings for planning permission to include a gabled roof, creating a spacious feel and allowing soft northerly light through two Velux skylights. To suit her art practice, we also installed two locally made timber windows and French doors for plenty of indirect natural light. A natural yet durable finish was essential, with British larch used externally for its local, rot-resistant qualities. Internally, we used eco-board made from agricultural by-products such as wheat chaff and hedge clippings. The roof was finished with Envirotile, a UK-made product manufactured from recycled waste plastic.
"Cameron designed and built my garden studio and all I can say is that it’s perfect - really well built and exactly what I wanted. He was responsive to my changing ideas of what I wanted and completed the job to a high standard with no delays."
