We were approached to build a calm, comfortable meditation cabin for year-round use. As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, the brief evolved to include remote working from home. We handcrafted a large oak table spanning a full window on one wall, and on the other side created three smaller tables that became a shrine for daily Buddhist practice. To maintain a natural feel, we white-washed the internal pine cladding to preserve the grain while increasing brightness, and used raw live-edged oak boards for the exterior. Alongside a matching shed, the cabin is both practical and a work of art.
